An Adventurous Mother’s Day

I loved Mother’s day this year. The weather was awesome, sunny and warm. I got to spend the whole day with my family on an adventure from 8am until bed time. We had great food, hit a couple of different parks, explored, hit the beach, ate more great food, and ended the evening with all of the Edwards’ clan at our house for dessert. I was thoroughly spoiled by my husband and girls. And I got to take lots of pictures. Perfect. Here are some highlights:

Symantha made a scavenger hunt for me in the morning, leading to my gifts. Pretty cute.

This is the coolest park we found in West Seattle, Camp Long. Lots of climbing and exploring.

I love my family and great days like this.

Our new pets

Doing some serious blog catch up, here. I have been MIA for I think the longest ever on  my blog. I miss it. So I am feeling motivated and am actually going to get some things posted, hopefully over the next few days. If I say it, I will have to do it, right?

The big girls have been begging for a pet for a long time, and our two outdoor dogs are not cutting it. After doing research to find some sort of pet that is not smelly, messy, harmful to our house, or requiring a lot of work for me, we decided to let them get some gerbils. Because gerbils are social creatures, they prefer to be together and we could get three in one cage – bonus.

It was really fun to surprise  them on Easter with this note in each of their baskets:clip_image001

So the next day, we headed to the pet store. What an adventure for each of them to pick one out and get everything we needed.  They were SUPER excited to put this altogether and have them home. All I could think of was these little creatures look very similar to what I was afraid of in our temporary home while we built our house. Mouse, gerbil, it’s all the same. But the girls love them, and I have grown to kind of like them too.

And Addison’s gerbil, Makayla.

Don’t you love these names? They have changed a number of times, but I think they are settled now.

So far, so good with the new little pets.
